A Letter from the Superintendent

Dear Community Members,

The goal of the Mequon-Thiensville School District (MTSD) is to maximize the academic and personal growth of all students through deliberate instructional strategies and systems thinking approaches. MTSD is focused on executing our strategic plan with fidelity and intentionality. The 2016-17 school year budget was crafted with the direct intent to advance our school district toward even greater results.

The following document links provide detailed financial information related to our academic program and specific initiatives that have propelled MTSD to unprecedented academic success. MTSD has continued to prioritize the fulfillment of the whole child in our academic programming. To that end, we have developed opportunities to educate children of all academic needs and abilities. Our focus is to ensure that we leave no child behind in the pursuit of his or her dreams and aspirations.

The citizens of the City of Mequon and Village of Thiensville are invited to actively participate in the 2016 Mequon-Thiensville School District Annual Meeting. The meeting is scheduled to take place on July 25, 2016 in the Range Line Conference Room. The meeting will immediately follow our Budget Hearing which begins at 7:00 p.m. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for community members to inquire about specific portions of the budget, analyze the budget amongst your neighbors and ultimately cast a vote in relation to the 2016-17 school tax levy.

We thank our community members for their thoughtful analysis of the school district’s budget. We are confident that you will discover that our ongoing fiscal oversight has placed the school district in a positive position for the future. Our Aaa bond rating (one of only five school districts in Wisconsin), growth of fund balance and ability to generate revenue through various methods are all examples of how the school district has taken a proactive approach in sustaining programming for our children through innovative funding sources. It is a result of our collaborative partnership with the community that MTSD students continue to thrive. We remain committed to continuous improvement and innovative programming for all students, and we appreciate your guidance, support and input toward these important goals.
