How to obtain homework, if absent from school
When absent please....
1. Parents need to call the Attendance Office (262-238-5620) to report the absence. Parents should be prepared to give student's name, ID #, grade level, and reason for the absence.
2. You can request homework if you are absent three or more days. Requests to get homework should be made by calling the student's teachers directly (go to staff directory) or the Guidance Office Secretary at 262-238-5635. You must request homework by 7:30 am the day BEFORE you wish to pick it up to enable teacher's time to write out assignments. You will need to make arrangements to get into your locker if textbooks need to be picked up. Assignments may be picked up in the Guidance Office between 2:30 and 3:30 the day AFTER you call in your request. Students are also advised to talk to their teachers before of after class upon their return to find out what they have missed and what they need to make up.
Where to Get Help at HHS
There are many people at Homestead to help you!
Your Teachers If you need help understanding an assignment or a lesson from class, ask to meet with your teacher before or after school.
Academic Success Center (ASC) The ASC is connected to the library. The staff there can assist you with tutoring in your courses, organization, and study skills. The ASC is available during your study hall and before and after school.
Your School Counselor Your counselor is here to help you with almost everything…academic advising, personal and social issues, college and career information, and resources for additional help and information. Come to the Guidance Office and make an appointment at the counter. Try to make the appointment during your study hall, before or after school or even during your lunch. If your situation is urgent, please tell the secretary. She will help you see your counselor as soon as possible. Your counselor is always a good “first step” when seeking help of any kind. To identify which counselor is yours, click here for the counselor assignment list and your counselor’s photograph.
The School Social Worker You can find Ms. Carr in the Guidance Office as well. She offers more intensive individual social and emotional support. She also leads support groups for students dealing with issues of divorce and family change, mental health and substance abuse, grief and loss and eating disorders.
The School Psychologist You can also contact Mr. Woessner in the Guidance Office. He is available to talk with students and provides testing for students who are being referred for additional services.
The School/Police Liaison Officer Officer Riley, from the Mequon Police Department, is often available during the school day in the main office. He is here as an advisor to the students about the law and law enforcement.
