The Mequon-Thiensville School District has officially named Sarah Viera as its new executive director of business services. The MTSD Board of Education approved Ms. Viera's appointment on November 21, 2016.
In her role as executive director of business services, Ms. Viera will oversee the management of the school district's financial forecasting, planning and allocation of available fiscal resources. Ms. Viera will be responsible for maintaining the school district's rich tradition of prudent financial management. MTSD has
been affirmed at the highest rating possible, Aaa, by the bond rating agency Moody’s, making it one of only five of Wisconsin’s 424 public school districts to hold the top rating. Third-party auditors annually commend MTSD for its management of fiscal affairs.

It was Ms. Viera's commitment to ensuring that educators were provided the necessary tools and materials in assisting students reach their full academic and social-emotional potential that was paramount in Ms. Viera’s selection as the next executive director of the business services in the Mequon-Thiensville School District.”
Viera's responsibilities will include leadership in the areas of finance and accounting, budget preparation, cash management, purchasing and risk management. The executive director of business services has administrative oversight of transportation, food services and contracted cleaning.
Ms. Viera prior work experience includes serving as the business manager for the Merton School District. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in school business management, both of which were earned at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Ms. Viera will begin in MTSD on December 12, 2016, allowing for a week of transition with retiring executive director of business services, Ms. Gail Grieger. Ms. Viera will assume the role officially on December 20, 2016.
