Four Homestead High School visual arts students have been recognized for their artwork in the UW–Washington County’s Festival of Arts: Student Art Competition.
Sophie Ng and Nicole Platz received first and second place honors, respectively, for their work in the painting category. Lilli Higgins was awarded third place for her ceramic sculpture in the 3-D media category. Mabree Lillestolen received honorable mention in the drawing category.
Of over 350 artworks submitted from students in five counties, 29 received awards. All work will be on display on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the UW-Washington County campus. The award winners will be recognized in a ceremony at 12 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
“This is a great honor for Sophie, Nicole, Lilli and Mabree, who have worked very hard to hone their skills,” said Kat Hustedde, art teacher at Homestead High School. “My colleagues Josh Hunt, Katie Nowak and I are incredibly proud of these students for their accomplishments.”
