Mequon-Thiensville District Newsletter

A Message from the Superintendent

Matthew Joynt, Superintendent

Matthew Joynt, Superintendent of Schools

As the Superintendent of Schools, it is a priority for me to engage all stakeholders in achieving our mission so that together, we can ignite each student's passion for learning, preparing for a life of infinite possibilities. With that, I am excited to introduce to the community our new Mequon-Thiensville School District Newsletter, Momentum. Establishing strong community relationships through consistent communication and engagement of all stakeholders is important to me. Momentum is a monthly  communication that will provide updates related to strategic initiatives, personnel, topics of interest, new programs, and program changes.

Besides introducing you to the new district newsletter, I am also taking advantage of this opportunity to provide you with a strategic planning update. Follow the link below to learn more about our strategic planning progress.

A Community Conversation on Safety

Matthew Joynt, Superintendent

The Mequon-Thiensville School District hosted a community conversation on the evening of Monday, March 26 to discuss the topic of safety and security in our schools. The goal of the meeting was to gather input from parents, employees, students, and community members to inform our plans moving forward. Over 100 individuals representing different stakeholder groups shared their thoughts, concerns, and perspectives in the productive conversation.

Check out the 5 key themes that emerged during the conversation.

Recognition and a cash award of $1,000 will be given to each winner. Nominations are due Monday, April 23.

The GPS on the Bus Goes ... Wait, What?

Image

We are excited to announce that Riteway and MTSD will pilot a text alert system to be launched this year! In this pilot program, parents can subscribe to receive an alert for bus delays. Alerts are sent if there is a 15-minute or greater delay. More information about the alert system will be sent to parents soon.

Additionally, Riteway will be refining the pilot program to make way for the roll-out of a parent app for the 2018-2019 school year that will give parents access to detailed information about their child's route through targeted GPS information. The parent app will provide greater detail about individual routes and will be available in the 2018-19 school year.
