The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has officially announced that Nicholas Schueller, social studies teacher at Homestead High School, has been selected as a 2026 Herb Kohl Foundation Teacher Fellow.

Schueller, currently in his third year of teaching at Homestead, is one of a select group of educators across Wisconsin recognized this year for their unwavering commitment to excellence in the classroom. The fellowship includes a $6,000 personal grant for Schueller, as well as a matching $6,000 grant for Homestead High School to support continued educational initiatives.

"Being named a 2026 Kohl Fellow is a tremendous honor,” said Schueller. "The most rewarding aspect of my career is empowering my students with the critical thinking skills necessary to be engaged, positive contributors to our society. I wouldn’t have been recognized without the support of our staff and administrators at Homestead. The ways I have been pushed to grow as an educator were because of them, and so I look at this as a recognition of not just me, but our entire learning community."

OZ County Art Winners

MTSD is proud to announce that several of our talented students have been recognized for their outstanding artistic achievements at the 79th Annual Ozaukee County Art Show. This year’s exhibition is particularly competitive, featuring a massive collection of over 500 works ranging from traditional paintings and sculptures to innovative mixed-media pieces created by local professionals and students alike. Our students' work was selected for its creativity, technical skill, and unique perspective.

We are grateful for the opportunity to provide our students with a platform to share their voices with the wider Ozaukee County community and to reinforce the importance of the arts in our local culture.
