The Mequon-Thiensville School District (MTSD) Board of Education has announced the resignation of member Paul Buzzell, effective immediately. Mr. Buzzell has served on the Board with distinction since his election in April 2022 after previously serving a term on the Board from 2014-2017. MTSD is grateful for Mr. Buzzell’s time, energy, and expertise in advancing our students' educational opportunities and achievements.

The Board of Education is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will immediately begin the process of filling the vacancy. We invite eligible electors of the community who are passionate about education and interested in serving on the Board to apply. The Mequon-Thiensville School District (MTSD) is proud to announce that Lauren Byrne, school psychologist at Wilson Elementary School, and Homestead High School senior and special needs advocate, Lily Oberneder, have received honorary awards from the Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services (WCASS). WCASS is a professional organization of over 350 members who administer and support special education programs throughout the state of Wisconsin. The WCASS awards recognize outstanding contributions made every day to enhance the lives of students with special needs. Ms. Byrne has served MTSD for six years, working with students at both Donges Bay and Wilson elementary schools.

The U.S. News and World Report has ranked Homestead High School in the Mequon-Thiensville School District #10 out of 462 (Top 2%) ranked high schools in the state of Wisconsin. The school was also ranked #561 of nearly 18,000 (Top 3%) public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college. By earning a national ranking in the top 40%, Homestead High School has reaffirmed its achieved status as a U.S. News Best High School.

The Mequon-Thiensville School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Sam Nadolsky has been selected as the next principal of Steffen Middle School. The MTSD Board of Education approved the appointment at their regular business meeting on Monday, April 22. Mr. Nadolsky will begin in the role this summer, following the retirement of Dr. Deborah Anderson, who has served as the Steffen principal for 22 years. 

Mr. Nadolsky comes to MTSD from the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, where he currently serves as an associate principal at West Milwaukee Intermediate School. Sam has additional experience in the Shorewood School District as an interim principal and seventh-grade math teacher at Shorewood Intermediate School and an Advanced Learning Coordinator (Gifted and Talented) for the district. He holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from UW-Eau Claire and a master’s degree in educational policy and leadership from Marquette University.
