Update: Wireless Electronic Devices Policy

We would like to remind families of expectations regarding student use of personal digital devices (PDDs) during the school day. PDDs, including smartwatches and smartphones, may be brought to school; however, their possession and use must not disrupt instruction or interfere with the learning environment.

Recently, we have observed an increase in communication via smartwatches during the school day, including messaging between students and family members. While we understand the importance of timely communication, notifications, and device use during instructional time can be distracting.

For this reason, the use of personal digital devices during the school day is subject to staff discretion to ensure students remain focused on learning. Additional information regarding appropriate student use of personal digital devices can be found in the MTSD Student/Parent Handbook (page 40).

If you need to share important information with your child during the school day, please contact the Donges Bay office so staff can assist you. For dismissal changes, continue using PikMyKid, as classroom teachers review each student’s dismissal plan before the end of the day.

Thank you for your continued support in maintaining a focused and respectful learning environment.
