Mequon-Thiensville School District

Transportation Changes

Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, you will notice some changes to our transportation procedures. Student safety remains our highest priority. We are also continually reviewing our operations with efficiency in mind. The changes we are implementing will allow us to better account for student bus riders at any point in time, and allow for more efficient routing. The changes that are being made will increase accountability for knowing which students are riding on our buses and that we are utilizing buses and being able to route as efficiently as possible.

Bus Registration

During the online enrollment process, which opens on July 1, 2019, families will be required to identify their transportation needs for the school year. Elementary and middle school families will have the ability to choose home, daycare, or babysitter options for pick up and/or drop off. If a babysitter is selected, that residence must be in the child’s school attendance area. High school families will be asked to identify their bus transportation utilization plans for the entire year; one option will include transportation only on late start days. All resident families will continue to be eligible for transportation throughout the year. If your family situation or transportation requirements change, or if your family moves, please contact your school office. Find more information about Infinite Campus, including information about usernames and passwords, at www.mtsd.k12.wi.us/InfiniteCampus.

Changes To Alternative Transportation

Within the transportation section of online enrollment, families will be able to choose one bus stop location for arrival (pick up), and one bus stop location for dismissal (drop off). Transportation preferences beyond the allotted one pick up and one drop off location(s) will not be available. We understand that family situations arise. Exceptions may be considered if there is legal documentation that would warrant such consideration. Please contact your school office if you feel this exception applies to you.

Access to Route Information

By having families register for transportation via online enrollment through Infinite Campus, we now have the ability to provide individual bus route information within the portal. This eliminates the need for Riteway to mail route information to families. It also allows for route changes (bus numbers, times, etc.) to be updated and reflected in Infinite Campus on a regular basis. Your child’s route information will be made available in late August in Infinite Campus under the Transportation Tab. If there is a significant change in your child’s route information, Riteway will contact you via phone or email.

Here Comes The Bus App

Wouldn't it be great to know exactly when the bus was going to arrive when the new school year starts? MTSD families now have access to an innovative mobile app and website called "Here Comes the Bus" which allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, using the GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped. For more information and instructions on how to set up your account, please visit www.mtsd.k12.wi.us/HereComesTheBus. If you have questions about the app, please contact Riteway at 262-512-1044.
