Social and Emotional Learning

A student’s social and emotional health is of critical importance to his or her wellbeing. Social and emotional learning enhances students’ capacity to integrate skills, attitudes and behaviors to deal effectively and ethically with daily tasks and challenges.

MTSD middle schools have a school counselor, social emotional coach and a psychologist on staff with primary responsibilities to support each student's academic, personal, and interpersonal development. These professionals additionally provide consultation and coaching to teachers and administrators, collaborate with families, and develop parent education opportunities.
