We are currently looking for volunteers to help plan a meal or snacks for the staff during Staff Appreciation Week, May 6 - 10. This would involve planning, shopping (We have a small PTO budget and/or coordinating parent donations via Sign-Up Genius), set up, and clean up.

Oriole Lane 5th-grade Girl Scout Troop 10262 recently attended the Girl Scout’s Highest Award Ceremony, where they had the honor of being the color guard as well as received a Bronze Award for their PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Video project for Oriole Lane. In addition, the troop's Bronze project was chosen as the one project that best exemplified the meaning of the award, which also earned them the Young Women ofDistinction Award.

The troop includes members Diya, Jordyn, Avery, Jayde, Delia, Laura, Ava, Dori, Olivia, Adelyne, Addy, and Illy and is co-lead by Stacey Demitros, Oriole Lane parent, and Susan Gattoni, Oriole Lane parent and 6th-grade teacher at Steffen Middle School in Mequon.

To complete their award-winning project, scouts of Troop 10262 planned, organized, recorded, edited, and published eight videos that highlight and teach students positive and appropriate behavior expectations in multiple school environments. The PBIS videos that they produced will be used throughout the school with all grade levels to display and talk about expected behaviors in many school environments including assemblies, bathrooms, bus, cafeteria, classrooms, field trips, hallways, and the playground. They will be used as a teaching tool to assist students in grades K4 through 5th grade in displaying positive and appropriate behaviors, which will improve the learning environment for all students.

“Girl Scout Troop 10262 was organized in 2017, when the girls were in kindergarten. Many of the present members of the troop have been a part of it since we started,” said troop co-leader, Susan Gattoni. “The troop meets monthly and has been involved in multiple community service experiences throughout the past six years.”

Some examples of what these scouts have volunteered for include Riverkeepers river clean up, preparing a meal for the Sojourner Truth House, assembling holiday baskets for Meta House, and visiting residents at Alexian Village. The troop also enjoys visiting RiverEdge and the Mequon Nature Preserve, along with collecting and donating supplies to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
