MTSD Drama: The Absolutely True Story of King Arthur

Performances will be Friday, December 19 at 7pm, Saturday, December 20 at 7pm, and Sunday, December 21 at 1pm - Range Line Community Center Gymnasium - No Charge!!

The legend of ”The Sword in the Stone” is rich with adventure, magic, heroes, and villains. In The Absolutely True Story of King Arthur, you’ll also adore the large number of female roles and a heaping serving of Spamalot! style humor.

This fun, non-musical adaptation of the classic tale features Arthur’s nefarious older sister, Morgan le Fay, as a contemptuous, power-hungry villainess who seeks the throne at any cost. Sensing this, their father, King Uthra, consults magician Merlin, who takes the king and queen’s newborn son and hides him away from harm until he is grown. Years pass and Morgan goes on the hunt for her brother, enlisting the help of an old crone named Grungehilde. Heartless and unscrupulous, Morgan also frees Saxons from the dungeon to get rid of the king, clearing her path to be queen...or so she thinks!

Can young Arthur pull the sword from the stone and take his rightful place on the throne? Only with the help of a strong and independent young woman named Guinevere and his hapless friend Kay can the absolutely true story of King Arthur be told!

Co-Directed by Jamie Love, our amazing Drama Director, and Laura Kloser, Milwaukee-based theatre director with experience at First Stage and Waukesha Civic Theatre, and performed by our very talented students in grades 5-8 in the Mequon-Thiensville community. Performances will be Friday, December 19 at 7pm, Saturday, December 20 at 7pm, and Sunday, December 21 at 1pm - Range Line Community Center Gymnasium - No Charge!! Doors open 30 minutes before showtime - MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!

Bags in Backpacks Program

We are partnering with Family Sharing of Ozaukee to offer another year of Bags in Backpacks for students and families. This program provides a weekend supply of nutritious food for a child when school breakfast and lunch are unavailable on weekends

At Steffen we are partnering with Family Sharing of Ozaukee to offer another year of Bags in Backpacks for students and families. This program provides a weekend supply of nutritious food for a child when school breakfast and lunch are unavailable on weekends. Each week, a food bag is provided to the child who is opted in, and contains a variety of food. This can include yogurt, cheese sticks, sandwiches, and fruit. All food is provided to children free of charge and it is our hope that these resources will support healthy eating habits for the students who need this program.

Bags in Backpacks is confidential, with only the building Principal, Social Emotional Coach, and Office Staff being aware of who chooses to opt into the program. If you are interested in participating, all you need to do is contact Ms. Schmidt at aschmidt@mtsd.k12.wi.us. Your child will be instructed to pick up the bag each Friday afternoon before dismissal from the office.

If you sign up initially but later decide that you want to opt-out, please reach back out and your student's name can be removed from the list. Last year, we had over a dozen Steffen families take advantage of this program and we look forward to another year of partnership!
