Steffen parents, we've all been there! Back-to-school sneaks up on us, and suddenly we're running from store to store trying to find supplies. But what if you could check it off your list today?

Family Fun Before the Fourth is looking for volunteers on Saturday, June 27th to carry sponsor banners 

in the parade. The parade is an hour long, beginning at Weyenberg Library in Mequon and winding through

Thiensville to Thiensville Village Park.  It is a great way to get exercise and so much fun. Get a friend to sign up so you can carry one together! You meet at 8:30 am at the corner of Division Street and Main Street. I will send out more details as we get closer. 

8th graders will receive 4 Merit Award hours AND  $20 in food tickets, to use at the restaurants and food trucks in the park after, AND a t-shirt! It is an awesome day of entertainment, music, food, fireworks and fun!!

MTSD has used the two inclement weather days built into this year’s school calendar. Since we have not required a third inclement weather day (fingers crossed!), Friday, May 22 Flex Day will be a "No School" day for all MTSD students and staff.

Please keep in mind that this plan holds as long as we do not experience any further school closures. Should we have another district-wide inclement weather day or emergency closing between now and May 22, we will provide a follow-up update. In that event, May 22 would likely be converted to a regular day of instruction to meet state requirements.

The Steffen Talent Show will be on May 21 from 1:30-3:30pm. Students will have an opportunity to "audition" for the talent show in early-May. Past performances have included dance routines, singing, and other talents like cup stacking or comedy. Parents of students who are performing in the show will be invited to attend. More information to follow.

Calling all current 8th grade students! As you head into high school, there are many new opportunities for students, including working towards the Homestead High School Merit Award. Information about this program can be found here: HHS Merit Awards All volunteer hours completed from March 28, 2026 and into Spring 2027 qualify for the Merit Award for your Freshman year (school year 2026-27).

Volunteering is a great way to earn service hours and merit hours while being part of a fun community event! Please consider signing up to help at the following two upcoming events:

The Wilson Fun Fair is coming up on Saturday, May 9 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Wilson School, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make the day magical for our district’s youngest students.

The Oriole Lane Carnival is coming up on Friday, May 15. It takes a lot of people and help to make the Carnival run smoothly. We would love for you to consider getting a head start on your volunteer hours for high school and sign up to help out at the Oriole Lane Carnival!
