Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

The purpose for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports, or PBIS, is to create and sustain a positive school community where everyone feels respected, understands their responsibilities and experiences success in all school environments.

PBIS is a prevention-oriented framework that allows educators to use evidence-based practices and improve our implementation of those practices in order to maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for all students.

Classroom PBIS includes preventative and responsive, proactive approaches that may be effectively implemented with all students in a classroom and intensified to support small groups or a few individual students. Classroom PBIS strategies are important tools to decrease interruptions, increase instructional time and improve student social behavior and academic outcomes.
