It typically takes one week to get results, so we encourage anyone considering volunteering in our schools to complete a background check as soon as possible.
If we do not have confirmation of a successful background check you will NOT be allowed to volunteer, regardless of the circumstances. The link can be found here.
Please note, background checks should be renewed every three years.
Employee Growth & Recognition at MTSD
The Mequon-Thiensville School District operates according to a three-year strategic plan, which includes five goals. In Goal 4: Workforce Environment, we strive to cultivate a workplace environment where professional growth is a priority to strengthen employees’ belonging and impact. The first objective under that goal is to enhance employee experiences through improved systems for onboarding, professional growth and recognition.
Onboarding
It is important that all MTSD employees engage in a comprehensive onboarding process in order to lay a foundation for their successful integration, engagement, and long-term growth within the school district. By implementing comprehensive onboarding strategies, we ensure that individuals are equipped with the necessary knowledge, resources, and support to thrive in their roles, foster positive relationships with students and colleagues, and create a conducive learning environment. Onboarding not only facilitates a smooth transition into the organization, but also instills a sense of belonging, boosts morale, and empowers stakeholders to contribute meaningfully, thereby enhancing overall educational outcomes and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement.
Professional Growth
MTSD supports teacher growth through professional learning. The philosophy of MTSD professional development is to promote research-based instructional and student engagement strategies so that staff members develop and grow professional competencies, attitudes and educational beliefs to positively impact all students. Much of the professional learning to promote best teaching practices is grounded in Advancement Via Individual Determination, or AVID, instructional practices grounded in promoting student collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking.
