The goal of the transportation program is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for all eligible students. We partner with Go Riteway to provide transportation to students residing within the district boundaries. All resident students 4K-12 are eligible for this service at no cost. In addition, Go Riteway also provides transportation for most athletic programs and educational field trips. The bus fleet is consistently checked and approved for safety and maintenance, and to ensure that buses are clean and comfortable for passengers.
For complete information regarding eligibility, routes, walking distance and alternative transportation, please read MTSD's transportation guidelines below.
We implemented changes to our routing practices effective in the 2019-20 school year. The changes will allow us to better account for student bus riders at any point in time, and allow for more efficient routing. Read more about the change.
The district will continue to offer bus transportation to all families in the Mequon-Thiensville School District who select On Campus Learning, including qualifying private school families in accordance with state statute. Given that physical distancing is difficult to maintain on school buses, families should consider alternative modes of transportation if possible.
- Families will be required to register for bus service. If a family declines service and their circumstances change in the future, they will be able to register their child(ren) at any point in the school year.
- All students are required to wear a face covering when not able to remain physically distant from other students who are not immediate family members from the same household. In the event a student does not wear a face covering because it is not developmentally and/or medically feasible, the student will be assigned to sit in the front rows of the school bus.
- Buses will be sanitized each night using electrostatic technology. Each bus will be equipped with a hand sanitizer station located at the front of the bus.
- Weather permitting, windows and roof hatches will remain open as much as possible to increase the circulation of outdoor air.
We are excited to offer an innovative mobile device app and website called Here Comes the Bus!
Here Comes the Bus allows your family to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, using the GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped.
The Go Riteway team believes that keeping students safe is priority one. Together, we understand the bus ride to and from school is an extension of the school day.
