Mequon-Thiensville School District

Open Enrollment

The Mequon-Thiensville School District participates in the Wisconsin Interdistrict Open Enrollment Program, which allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they reside. Wisconsin residents in K4 through Grade 12 may apply to participate in the Open Enrollment program. Parents must submit an application form to nonresident school districts during a window of time that generally begins with the first full week in February and runs through the last week in April. (Please visit the Department of Public Instruction website for exact dates and times.)

Each year the MTSD Board of Education meets to determine whether seats will be available and, if so, which grade levels will have openings. If there are more applicants than there are seats available, we engage in a computerized random selection process to determine accepted applicants.

The non-resident, open enrollment
application window  FOR the
2025-26 school year closed on April 30, 2025.

Non-resident families that applied for the 25-26 school year were notified the week of May 11th via US Mail of their application status.

25-26 School Year: If you wish to apply for open enrollment after the April 30th deadline, you may do so AFTER JULY 1.  Please submit the alternative open enrollment application.  Currently, there are no seats available for the 25-26 school year and any applications that meet the approval criteria  will be added to our waitlist.

26-27 School Year:  Non-resident students can apply during the Open Enrollment Application Window - February 2 - April 30, 2026.
