HHS Girls Cross Country Celebrates 50 Years 👟

Posted Date: 10/28/26 (10:02 AM)

Way back in August 1976, seven brave young women laced up their sneakers, showed up for practice, and blazed a brand-new trail at Homestead High School. Guided by Coaches Esrael and Jim Noltner, that inaugural 1976–77 squad laid the foundation for five decades of Highlander pride, camaraderie, and grit. Fast forward 50 years—and the team has been running ever since!

Whether you were a pioneer on that original 1976 squad, ran in the ’80s or ’90s, or crossed the finish line just a few seasons ago, we want to celebrate this incredible milestone with you. Dust off your running shoes (or walking sneakers!), swap stories from the "old days," and reconnect with teammates across generations.

  • When: Saturday, November 14, 2026
  • What: Morning fun run/walk around the Homestead home course, followed by a post-run meet-up and celebration. (Specific timing and location details to follow!)
  • Who: All past and present Girls XC runners, coaches, family, and supporters!
  • RSVP: Please let Stephanie Duncan know you’re coming by November 6 at duncanrunning500@gmail.com.
Come run, walk, cheer, or simply catch up—let’s celebrate 50 years of going the distance! Click here for more information!
